At DBSISA, we offer a Full-Time Transition Year Programme for male and female students who are passionate about football. Our programme runs from September to May and gives students the opportunity to train alongside UEFA A & Pro licensed coaches in one of Ireland’s premier sports facilities – the Sports Ireland Campus in Dublin.

What To Expect From Our Soccer Programmes

Our Full-Time Transition Year Programme is designed to help students experience the life of a pro player. We offer UEFA Pro & A Licence coaching, player position-specific training, nutrition education, video analysis and performance reflection, sports science & psychology classes, coaching badges and refereeing qualifications, weekly monitoring & feedback reports, and renowned guest speakers.

Paul O'Brien

Academy Director

Paul, our Academy Director, brings extensive coaching expertise from Irish football. He has worked at the League of Ireland level with Shamrock Rovers, Bray Wanderers, and Klub Kildare. A former FAI employee, Paul coached U15 to U21 squads and the Women’s National Team. He holds UEFA A & Elite Youth A licenses, a Coach Developer Diploma, and a certificate in football business studies.

KEVIN BEGGY

HEAD COACH

With several years of experience coaching at grassroots clubs and a master’s in high performance from the MBP School of coaches in Barcelona, Kevin is a UEFA B license holder and a UEFA A license candidate.

FREDERICO COSTA

HEAD COACH

Frederico is an accomplished academy coach who has a Master’s degree in Football delivered by Sporting Lisbon and worked his way up to become the head coach at Benfica Soccer Schools. He recently completed his UEFA B license and is currently studying to complete his UEFA A license.

EOIN WEAREN

HEAD COACH

Eoin is a UEFA A license holder and an experienced coach who has played for Ireland and several clubs, including West Ham United and Limerick FC. He’s also been announced as the Shelbourne Senior Women’s First Team Head Manager for the 2024/25 season.
